About Us

Islamic Dawah Training Centre is a Non-Governmental Organisation established in 1998 by a group of humanitarian Muslims with an initial focus on training religious people on consoling war victims.  The January 6, 1999 rebel invasion of the capital, Freetown called for a change of the organization’s initial mandate from mere consolation of war victim to emergency relief activities.

In 2001, Islamic Dawah Training Centre gained its legal status with the Ministry of Development and Economic planning (MODEP) with registration number MODEP/D3/47/NNGO/627, with mandate to operate in any part of the country as an indigenous Non – Governmental Organisation. Later the organization registered with the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gander and Children’s Affairs (MSWGCA); and with the Tonkolili District Council with the same status.

Since then, Islamic Dawah Training Centre has been transitioned along with the country itself, developing from short term projects (emergency relief at internally displaced persons camps and refugee centres to long term sustainable development projects – skills training, education etc.

As security returned to the provincial areas by 2003, Islamic Dawah Training Centre head office moved from the capital  Freetown to Mile 91, Yoni chiefdom, Tonkolili District, North of the country and began its commitment to working with the local communities who have not received aid from other organisations.

Islamic Dawah Training Centre is committed in investing our expertise and resources in order to further achieve our goals. Since 1998. We’ve been supporting our community members in a variety of ways and measuring our success not by monetary size, but by more qualitative measurements such as the scale and effectiveness of our efforts.
